Please give me some advice about the timing of teaching the separate sciences. Are the separate sciences meant to be taught in one academic year, or two?
Schools are normally teaching the three separate sciences over two years.
Schools report that alternating modules of GCSE Science and GCSE Addtional Science is more satisfactory than first completing all the GCSE Science modules. See Running the courses.
Many schools have 20% curriculum time for all three sciences, plus extra classes outside the schools' main timetable.
The time needed for each separate science course will depend on how many hours weekly you have. OCR recommends 120 guided learning hours for each course. See, for instance, page 74 of the GCSE Physics specification). For OCR specifications see our guide to the OCR website.
