Provision of Consultant Services for GCSE Twenty First Century Science

Message from OCR
OCR are looking for a consultant to support the work of the qualification team at OCR’s Cambridge office:
• To liaise between the OCR qualification team, the examining teams and the C21 project team (the University of York Science Education Group and the Nuffield Curriculum Centre).
• To work with the OCR National Network Coordinator and Principal Moderators to develop materials for training; the materials to be used in local network meetings (clusters) and in inset meetings for teachers.
• To provide responses to assessment issues that crop up on the OCR forum discussion list.
• To support the OCR Subject Officers in proofreading question papers and checking mark schemes.
Consultants are expected to have:
• Teaching experience in science (ideally in Twenty First Century Science).
• Moderating / Examining experience
• Excellent interpersonal, project management and presentational skills.
• An up-to-date knowledge of developments in Science education.
Current or recent management experience in a school or local authority setting is desirable.
Although many of the tasks can be home-based, some of the tasks will involve days at the OCR Cambridge Office and travel to meetings around the country. Work will be undertaken throughout the year.
The OCR consultant will be self-employed and fees will be paid according to the tasks specified by the Qualification Manager at a rate of £27.50 per hour to a maximum of £2475 per month.
