Does the new course encourage the study of the 'combined sciences' rather than 'separate sciences'?
No. In all the courses the separate sciences are clearly delineated with distinct biology, chemistry and physics modules.
The GCSE Additional Science course, in particular, is designed to highlight differences in the methods of inquiry and the key concepts in the different sciences.
There is also the opportunity to study separate science (triple science) GCSE courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
