Are the new courses going to hinder the supply of future scientists?

The status quo was not an option. Research evidence showed clearly that what we had been doing was not working. The falling numbers of students choosing physical sciences and engineering in an international problem faced by many developed counties. There is no single solution. The new GCSE Science courses provide a real opportunity to improve school science for all students, including those who may choose to go on to careers that require more advanced science qualifications.
