Developing and supporting the C21 suite of courses

The Twenty First Century Science project team developed a suite of C21 science courses, working in partnership with the Awarding Body (OCR) and publisher (Oxford University Press, OUP).

The project team at the Nuffield Curriculum Centre and the University of York are now contributing to the support of teachers and schools running the C21 courses.

The OCR specifications and associated OUP publications were written during 2002-06. During this period, the project team consulted with teachers and scientists, liaised with pilot schools, and co-ordinated a large team of contributing authors. Many teachers made important contributions to the development and writing of the courses which started in September 2006.

Twenty First Century Science project directors have included John Holman, Robin Millar and Jenifer Burden at York, and Andrew Hunt and Peter Campbell at Nuffield. Peter Nicolson made an important contribution to developing the assessment in collaboration with the examiners. A great many other people contributed to the work of the project. Our picture also includes Angela Hall (who is now Director of the Nuffield Curriculum Centre), John Lazonby, and Sarah Codrington who edits this website.
